Robert's Story

Sunday January 7th, 2007
Robert wipes out on his quad resulting in a double compound fracture of the right forearm (and various other bumps and bruises). He is taken in for surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital - they put in two plates and pin them in place. Doctors tell him that he should plan on being out of commission for 8-10 weeks.
Please note, that like most of us in this industry he has no health insurance at all.

Monday January 8th,2007
Robert is resting comfortably (thanks to the Morphine drip). He will have to stay in the hospital for at least a couple of days.

Tuesday January 9th, 2007
Robert was able to get up and wander around a little bit today. The road rash on his hip actually seems to be bothering him more at this point than the arm is. They did take him off of the morphine (sorry Robert). He was able to take a shower and that was great although much disappointed that he was assigned a male nurse to help him shower (garbage bag on the right arm and glove on the left hand). If there are any women who would like to volunteer to help Robert shower once he is home - let us know at the shop and we will put you in touch (3 demerit points to TeeJay for the bad pun).
He is scheduled to be released tomorrow morning if all goes as planned and is hoping to be back to the shop as soon as he can.

January 10th, 2007
This morning Robert was released from the hospital. He is going to be resting (rather uncomfortably now that the morphine is all the way out of his system) at home. Still determined to make it into the shop as soon as he can.

A friend of the shop added Robert as an auction on Ebay. Very big thank you to Christian for all of his help!

Robert is scheduled to get his cast removed on Tuesday February 21st - at that time that will decide if he is healed enough to go without it, have another one put back on or will have to wear some other sort of brace.
